“Building the Kingdom of God in the hearts and minds of men”
Herbert Rouson Jr.
Pastor Herb was called to the preaching/teaching ministry in November 2002, licensed in March
2005, ordained in October 2007 and installed as only the 2nd Pastor in New Image Baptist Church's 25
year history in June 2009. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant Pastor for 3 years.
During his time at
NIBC, Pastor Herb has served as the youth/young adult Sunday school instructor and established the
NIBC “Band of Brothers” Men’s Ministry. God’s ministry through Pastor Herb is indicative of what can
happen with lives that are “sold out” for Christ and brought under the subjection and the power of the
Holy Spirit.
With powerful, Spirit-led expository preaching/teaching, God has and continues to use Pastor
Herb to redefine the traditional paradigm of what it takes to be an effective servant-leader for the
Kingdom. In this regard, he continues to make an impact for the Kingdom - - calling God's people to
pursue God's standard of Holiness and purity (1 Peter 1:13-16). Since being installed as the Senior
Pastor, he has sought ways to strategically position the church and it’s ministries to make an even greater
impact for the cause of Christ. In 2011
NIBC established the C.A.S.L (Center for Advanced Study &
Learning) – a community-based ministry that seeks to study and implement creative ways to engage the
people of God and assist in meeting their holistic needs. A collaborative visionary, Pastor Herb
endeavors to see “the Church universal” (God’s people) be more intentional about building the Kingdom
of God in the hearts and minds of His people...in ways that reach...rather than repel.
From inception, New Image (NIBC) has been and will continue servicing as “church in community.” This concept rest on the premise of the words and life-teaching skills of Jesus the Christ.
When Jesus, according to the writings of Matthew said: “Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18) he was not calling for the establishment of a nation; he was not calling for building a country. Rather he was calling into being people who would become a unified community to be relational in nature, righteous and just in the world, and with the character untarnished with evil manners of behavior. These things are traits engrained in our mission, vision and core values.
The mission of NIBC is to demonstrate the love and Spirit of Jesus Christ; to teach and proclaim the gospel of Christ and committing this ministry to leading persons to know Him personally (John 15:12-14; Matthew 28: 18-20 respectively). Our goal is to equip the membership for the work of Christ’s ministry (Ephesians 4:11,12). Read more
